Lucy has attended the IALHA National Championship show twice. She has won Champion Half Andalusian Mares, Champion Half Andalusian Best Movement, Champion Half Andalusian Sport Horse Type, Showmanship for Youth, Western Pleasure Youth, Western Pleasure Half Andalusian, and numerous Top Fives. Her greatest show ring win was National Champion Working Equitation in 2011. She placed 4th in dressage, 2nd in Ease of Handling, and 1st in Speed. I was very proud of my big mare.
I trained Lucy in the bridle horse tradition, she went well in the hackamore and two rein. I did not move her up into the bridle because she was just too sensitive for that heavy a bit, but did fine in a half breed. Lucy is also a wonderful ranch roping horse. She likes to work cows and is amazingly quick for such a big horse.
Lucy has a kind and gentle heart, and has retired from the show ring to teach youth riders. She goes trail riding, works in the arena and stands for grooming for hours for her young students.
Born in 1994
I have had "Lucy" for 14 years now. She is a great big mare that is as sweet as they come. She has a huge stride, and loves to cover ground. She is an Andalusian x Thoroughbred cross that stands 16.1 hands. Her sire was the great andalusian stallion Teodoro, who is the only stallion to have won the title of Champion Senior Stallion for both IALHA and the AAHA.
